Green hero: laser vegetables grocery store ICA Sweden

A grocery store chain from Sweden, ICA, has invented a laser-tattoo to indent the serial number into the vegetable instead of using plastic-wrap or plastic stickers.

The products name, number and country of origin is tattooed on the product.

Will the customers like the product with the tattoos or would they rather have a sticker or packaging? Only time will tell.

The trial period in February 2017 started with tattooing avocado and sweet potato. After this successful period they started tattooing butternut squash and watermelon in May 2017.

Now here’s to more stores adopting this practice instead of using plastic stickers or plastic-wrap.

Watch a short video on the laser-tattoos here.
