Life is hard, and it is during the toughest of times that a person’s strength is determined. It’s not easier when you’re a woman.
Over the years, women have been tested many ways and in different arenas. They proved to be born winners by overcoming obstacles and rising up to every challenge. It is safe to say that being deemed the weaker gender has always been the biggest falsity.
Michelle Obama, former first lady of the United States, has always been a believer in the power of being a woman. She suggests that with the help and cooperation of our fellow women, this power can grow exponentially and know no bounds.
Various organizations have invited her to countless events as a speaker. She is known to have imparted some of the most thought-provoking and inspirational speeches. They stick to you, because not only does she say good things, her good deeds are well documented as well.
Recently, she spoke at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts about how to cope in times of tribulation.
“Focus on what you can control. Be a good person every day. Vote. Read. Treat one another kindly. Follow the law. Don’t tweet nasty stuff.”
Short but relevant, the advice is indeed applicable. Taking inspiration from the golden rule about doing unto others what you would have them do unto you, Michelle Obama sure knows how to recycle a valuable lesson. And for that, she is our green hero of the week.
