The Good On You App will let you know.
Have you ever found yourself shopping and wondering whether that ‘conscious’ brand is really that conscious? There’s an app for that!
It’s called Good On You.
The app has a databas of over 1000 brands. Just type in the name of the brand and it will give you the information you need.
I’ve tried it out, of course, and I’ll share my findings in this post.
But I didn’t select the Good On You app to be the Green Hero of the week for no reason.
Because it’s an app it means you’ll have it with you when you’re in the store. This allows you to have a snapshot about whether the brand suits your ethics or not.
For example: H&M. It gets a 3 out of 5 because they have efforts to be more ethical, but it’s still fast fashion. So, depending on how seriously you take ethical fashion you can either decide that 3 out of 5 stars is enough. Or you might have high standards and won’t consider anything under 5 stars.
Then there’s the next example: People Tree. They get 5 out of 5 stars. This is an ethical brand that focuses on sustainability. The brand is all about sustainability and ethics, so it’s natural that they receive a 5 out of 5.
One reason why this is nice is that you don’t have to do the research yourself. Although when you do the research yourself you’ll be able to find out if the brand’s ethics suit yours. Listen to the latest podcast to find out how to become an ethical shopper.
Conclusion: this app is great if you don’t have the time to research the supply chain of the brand you’re considering purchasing.
Ideally you’ll be a bit more conscious and research the brand extensively yourself, but if you’re in a shop and you love a certain item and think it will add value to your closet: then this app is the one you need.
